Job Title:          Finance Director 

Department:    Finance 

Reporting to:   CFO


About the position:

The Finance Director will be a value-adding resource to the CFO and the Board. H/she will be responsible for corporate financing, governance, planning, and financial control within Opibus Ltd by ensuring the set finance and business goals and related strategies are executed and achieved.

The Finance Director will provide leadership and direction to the accounts team, oversee operational responsibility such as reporting, compliance, cash planning and strategic responsibility of capital allocation, including pricing strategies and process improvement for sustainable and efficient growth. The ideal candidate would have exposure working in a large multinational corporation and it would be an added advantage if the candidate has had previous experience working in a high-growth start-up.


Responsibilities:

Path for growth

  • To be a key participant in raising long-term funding for the business by preparing and pitching financial projections to potential investors with the ability to defend the financial forecasts and assumptions.  
  • Perform relevant research to identify available funding opportunities and evaluate the results.
  • Work closely with the CEO  and other  Managers to ensure the Finance function supports the business at a strategic and operational level.
  • Work closely with the Head of departments in the rolling forecasts and performance measured through monthly management reporting, Objective Key result areas (OKRs) reporting, and profit forecasting.
  • Take part in strategy formulation with an understanding of how the business works, its value proposition to clients, and its market/competitive landscape.
  • Perform relevant research to identify available funding opportunities and evaluate the results.

Financial growth modeling/cash planning 

  • Direct the Finance department in providing and leading procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records;
  • To quickly bring under control basic operational responsibilities such as compliance, cash planning, with strategic responsibility of capital allocation.
  • Prioritize cash flow planning and forecasting in the day-to-day operations with a long-term goal of developing strategies and processes that result in cutting off unnecessary spending, negotiate payment arrangements with key suppliers, improve credit and collection processes.
  • Develop adequate accounting and project control structures/routines, and facilitate accurate and timely preparation of financial statements.
  •  Oversee external financial advisors as needed, including auditors and tax professionals

Customer financing structuring

  • In collaboration with the commercial team identify and implement suitable customer financing structures through third-party institutional financiers to maximize the product customer value proposition
  • Strategic responsibility of capital allocation including pricing strategies, sales compensation plan, and overseeing process improvement for suitable and efficient growth.
  • With regards to the pricing policy, consideration needs to be taken to assure alignment with company strategies, competitive conditions, the unit economics of the business, and the market environment.

Advisory to management, board

  • Facilitate organizational accountability and transparency, while providing strategic leadership.
  • Oversee the reporting of company financial activity to tax authorities, Board of Directors, and external investors/stakeholders.
  • Assist with preparations and  presentations to shareholders, investors, and potential partners
  • Provide analysis, insight, and advice on financial performance to the CEO, and Head of departments for sound decision making for the company. 
  • Direct and analyze the general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization’s policies and financial operations.
  • Maintain existing investment arrangements and evaluate future investment needs and vehicles
  • Work with the CEO to analyze organization operations, and to identify opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement.
  • Assist the CEO and Board of Directors with strategic initiatives by studying the market and economic trends and risks, and how to take advantage of opportunities and mitigate risks
  • Assist with presentations to shareholders, investors, and potential partners
  • Provide analysis, insight, and advice on financial performance to the CEO, and Head of departments for sound decision making for the company. 

Education

  • A Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics,
  • Relevant professional certifications such as ICPAK, AAC, or relevant professional body.

Experience needed:

  • Minimum of 15 years of work experience, with at least 8 workings at the Management level.
  • Must have previously worked in a fast-growing start-up,  having served similar capacity or undertaking similar responsibilities. 
  • Previous experience as a BOD member, Advisory Board Member, and/or Private Equity/Investment Banking is strongly preferred.

Skills and Knowledge, specifically needed for the position:

  • Experience leading and developing teams.
  • General understanding of Advisory Board roles and responsibilities.
  • Strong financial acumen –  must understand the workings of typical investor relationships and the benefits/weaknesses of various investment vehicles for a rapidly growing organization.
  • Possess good knowledge of planning and strategizing financial and budgeting issues
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results on time with attention to detail.
