JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:          Financial Controller (Senior Accountant)

Department:    Finance Department 

Reporting to:   Finance Manager


About the position:

To manage, supervise and coordinate the Finance department, provide financial information to guide management decision making. and accounting for the resources of the Company.

The successful candidates should have a background in working in a fast-growing start-up, capital raising, complex financial calculations,  and experience in building a Finance department.

Core responsibilities 

  • Ensure the existence and regular update of accounting systems and manuals.
  • Ensure the monthly preparation and submission of income and expenditures and financial statement reports to the management.
  • Perform and have responsibility for month and year-end closing.                                                                  
  • Finalize monthly reporting of balance sheet-, cash flow and profit and loss statements.
  • Follow up on budget vs actual and analyze deviations, propose relevant advise/action to Management.
  • Provide strong financial governance and carry out a continuous review of existing systems, policies, and procedures to maintain an adequate level of internal controls.
  • Compute taxes and prepare tax returns and advice the management in financial- business- and tax strategies.
  • Transfer price compliance 
  • Take lead responsibility to prepare and produce necessary financial documents and reports for submission to run and coordinate the internal and external audits.
  • Train and develop the capacity of the accounts teams to ensure that a good standard of financial management is maintained.
  • Maintain sound and ethical accounting principles


Skills and Knowledge, specifically needed for the position:

Educational background

  • A Bachelors’ degree in Economics/Finance 
  •  Must be a certified public Accountant (K) or ACCA or equivalent.

Critical skills needed for the role 

  • At least 8 to 10 years of work experience in a similar position preferably in manufacturing;
  • Proven experience in managing multi-million turnover to achieve financial, administrative excellence, and full compliance.
  • Able to develop, recommend and implement financial best practice policies and processes.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience to provide timely and accurate financial reports.
  • Able to take a holistic view of the business with a financial focus.
  • Understanding and/or knowledge of audit preparation Results-oriented and able to deliver within very strict deadlines.
